MCALLEN / WESLACO - James "Jimmy" R. Cuellar, 56, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 in McAllen.
James "Jimmy" Cuellar left this world much too soon, but his family is comforted knowing that he was reunited with his parents. He is survived by his wife, Eva, son James "Jimbo" R. Jr., his seven remaining siblings: Armando Jr. (Nelda), Heman (Blanca), Carmen, Nora, Martin, Ana, and John F "Johnny", and many more nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, and extended family.
James was known to his family and close friends as "Jimmy" and to others as "Jimbo". He was a free spirit, was always smiling, and had a wonderful sense of humor. As a youngster he not only played in Little League, but was also selected to play on an All Star Team, and as an adult he continued that passion through coaching. His favorite outdoor sports were hunting and fishing, which he enjoyed doing with his brothers. He was also a member of the Boys Scouts of American and achieved the rank of Life. All that knew Jimmy knew that he was a kind person and had a heart of gold, and was always ready to help when needed. When he lived in San Antonio, he was the one his sisters called upon to pick up his nieces from school, giving them wonderful memories of their Uncle Jimmy.
Jimmy was a 1977 graduate of Weslaco High School. He was blessed with the gift of gab which made it natural for him to enter the field of Marketing. He was employed as a sales representative by local businesses in Weslaco and also in San Antonio, Texas. However, what he took most pride in was being the caregiver for his son who has special needs. Little Jimbo was his pride and joy!
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Armando Cuellar and his mother, Nora K. Cuellar. For those who knew him, he was loved and will be missed. Our memories of him will forever be embedded in our hearts.
Memorial Mass Services will be held at St. Joan of Arc located at 109 S. Illinois Ave. in Weslaco, Texas on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco is in charge of funeral arrangements.
