Sharon Vanderpool

Weslaco- Sharon Kay Vanderpool, 71, succumbed to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Diseases at The Heights in Alamo, Texas, on Sunday, May 15, 2022. She is now pain-free and at home with her Lord and Savior. On March 21, 1951, Sharon was born to Jimmy and Dorothy Robinson in Weslaco, Texas.

After graduating from Weslaco Highschool in 1969, Sharon earned a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Pan American University. Sharon taught in Mercedes, Harlingen, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi.

Sharon was an entrepreneur. She owned and managed a children's shop in Weslaco. Sharon always loved antiques and later owned and operated an antique shop in Corpus Christi, Texas. She also kept many in her Weslaco home.

Sharon was a woman of faith. Although she knew that her health was declining and she would be subject to the mental and physical pain caused by Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, she never complained or asked God why. Instead, Sharon prepared her friends and family and admirably accepted God's will.

Sharon was brilliant, creative, kind, and thoughtful. Sharon had a contagious smile that would light up any room. Her sense of humor and outgoing personality warmed many hearts. Sharon had lifelong friends and would drop what she was doing at a moment's notice to help someone in need. Sharon and her friends loved to take walks in the park, dine out, especially at Golden Corral, or have some fun snacks over an extended visit. She loved plants and gardening. She spent a lot of time outdoors taking care of the plants.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Dorothy, and her brother Kenneth Robinson.

Sharon is survived by her daughter Tracy Vanderpool McAllister and husband, Jay of Alamo, Texas; son Scott Vanderpool and wife, Melissa of Weslaco, Texas; and her beloved grandchildren Leo, Holland, Griffin, Ashley, and Julianne and great-grandson Silas; and Verne Vanderpool, a long time friend, and her best friend and companion Carly, her dog.

On Monday, May 23, 2022, Visitation will be at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco, Texas. Visitation hours will be from 3-9 PM. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sharon's Life at 6pm.
