WESLACO –Abelardo Cortez, 84, died Saturday, July 12, 2014. He is proceeded in death by his father, Guillermo Cortez and mother Benita Gonzalez. He is survived by his wife, Maria Guadalupe Cortez, daughter, Benita Cardenas, sons, Adalberto Cortez, Ruben Cortez, Arturo Cortez, and Jimmy Cortez, and a step-daughter, Maria De Jesus Cortez. Also surviving are his twelve grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Visitation will begin today, July 14, 2014 at McCaleb Funeral Home Chapel in Weslaco from 4pm – 9pm with a rosary at 7 pm. Interment will take place at a later date.
