Weslaco-Abraham Lozano, 84, passed away on Thursday, January 21st, 2016 at the Aurora House in Weslaco. He is preceded in death by his parents, Abraham and Estefana Lozano, his brothers, Demetrio Lozano, Silvestre Lozano and Salvador Lozano, his sister Ceclia Fontania, and his grand-daughter Marina G. Lozano.
He is survived by his loving bride of fifty seven years, Teresita Tijerina Lozano, his children, Alicia Price (David Lee) of Houston, Enrique Lozano of Austin, Cynthia Loya (Israel Sr.) of Weslaco, Eloy Lozano (Cris) of Weslaco, Lydia Valdez (David) of Wichita Falls, his grandchildren, April, Israel, Eli, Javier, Jacob, Jayden, Steven, Mason, Annamae, and Joseph; his great grandchildren, Valerie, Meliton, Harley, Isaiah, Kayleigh and Kayliana, his sister, Olivia Catbagan and numerous nephews and nieces.
Abraham was born in Mercedes, but moved to Weslaco where he spent much of his life. His family moved to California and Abraham decided to join the army as a young man. After serving our country he would return to his roots, where he worked as a truck driver. This is where he would meet the love of his life, Teresita, as she worked in one of the factories. They would marry on June 1, 1958 and begin to raise their family.
They also would travel to California every summer when he had work vacation. He would drive the entire way, stopping at rest stops along the way, but he did all the driving. He took them to see many sites, Disneyland, of course, Santa Cruz, and Frontier Village. The children fondly remember the trips, which allowed them to become very close to their relatives in California.
Abraham also loved football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He loved spending time with his friends and spent many nights fishing off the old bridge at South Padre Island.
Abraham spent most of his career as a machinist and he could fix just about anything. Fixing up things around the house was another hobby of his. He will be most remembered as a great husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He will be in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 24th, from 3-8pm, with a rosary at 5pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 25th, at 10am, with interment to follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
