Pharr- Adela Perez, 76, passed away on February 25th, 2021, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. On May 10, 1944, Adela was born to Samuel Gonzalez and Adelina Perez Gonzalez in Brownsville, Texas. Adela met her future husband, Francisco, when they were growing up in Reynosa.
Adela and Francisco were married on July 13th, 1972, and they moved to Pharr, Texas, where they raised their family and spent the rest of their lives. Francisco worked in the auto industry, and Adela was the caretaker.
Adela was a great homemaker, and the family could always count on a spotless home and a hot meal. Some of her famous dishes were charro beans, milanesa, hot salsa, and taquitos with fresh-made tortillas. Adela modeled the role of a faithful, Christian wife and mother. Adela was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for over fifty years.
Adela was a loving wife and mom. She loved her family and worked tirelessly to ensure their success. Adela was the disciplinarian, and she expected her children and grandchildren to do the right thing and always try their best. She accepted nothing less and was quick to punish with firmness and love. Adela attended most of her grandchildren’s sporting events, and she was always the biggest fan.
Adela is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Adelina Gonzalez, daughter, Norma Heredia, brothers, Valente Trevino, Blas Trevino, Nicolas Gonzalez, and sister, Lilia Gonzalez.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly fifty years, Francisco Perez, daughters, Leticia Trevino (Armando), Cecilia Lorena Vaquera, Veronica Trevino (Armando), Adela Rios (Omar), Frances Sandoval (Joe), and Jessica Ramirez (Angel), son-in-law, Marcos Heredia, sisters, Albina Gonzalez and Juana Vela, grandchildren, Hilda Contrera (Luis), Vanessa Cuellar (Jesse), Armando Trevino, Victoria Trevino, Brenda Heredia, Kimberly Heredia, Mark Heredia, Valeria Trevino, Armando Trevino, Jennifer Denisse Mireles (Jesse), Omar Rios, Adrian Rios, Edgar Rios, Norma Sandoval, Dora Sandoval, Guadalupe Sandoval, Francisco Sandoval, Anakin Ramirez, Damian Ramirez, Madeline Ramirez, Evelyn Ramirez, great-grandchildren, Norma, Mia, Aaliyah, Luis Jr., Mayte, Devin, Aubrey, Arian, Aiden, Aliver, and Dariel.
Visitation will be Friday, February 26th, 2021, 6-8 pm, with a Celebration of Life at 7 pm, at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco.
