WESLACO - Adela Olivarez Sigala, 88, passed away on Friday, August 19th, 2022, at Sun Valley Rehab in Harlingen. Adela was born on August 23, 1933, to Daniel and Dominga Olivarez in McAllen, Texas. She spent most of her life in the Rio Grande Valley and raised eleven children. Although Adela was primarily a homemaker, she also managed to work for many years as a caregiver to the elderly. She was a natural caretaker and enjoyed helping others.
Adela was a prayer warrior and loved her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed singing, especially at church, praying, and dancing. Adela was a beautiful, strong woman. She was confident and had unwavering faith.
Adela had an amazing life and loved to share stories with her children and grandchildren. She lived life to the fullest every day as if it could be her last.
Adela is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Dominga Olivarez, her husband, Antonio Sigala, her children, Olga Ramirez, Job Ramirez, and Marco Antonio Sigala, siblings, Lydia O. Acevedo, Rebecca O. Trevino, Daniel Olivarez and José Israel “Pepito” Olivarez.
She is survived by her children, Joel Ramirez, Ruth Richards, Mema Stoudt, Eliseo Ramirez Eddie Fuentes, Esmeralda Medrano, Veronica Rose Sigala, Francisco Sigala, twin sisters Tabita O. Rangel and Lydia O. Acevedo, grandchildren, Joey Ramirez, Manuel Ramirez, Deadra Doolin, Jamie Ramirez, Evan Ramirez, Trisha Adela Richards, Michelle Hager, Aimee Bartel, Tara Stoudt, Priscilla Perumalla, Noe Medrano Jr, Rosa Adela Miller, Christian Medrano, David Sigala, Jack Daniel Sigala, Becky Diaz, Israel Diaz, Marco Antonio Sigala Jr, Anna Sigala, Christina Sigala, Francisco Sigala Jr, Casimiro Antonio Sigala, Jenna Marie Adela Sigala, and Brianna Sigala, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin Friday, August 26th, at 2 pm, followed by a celebration of life from 4-6 pm at McCaleb Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Saturday, August 27th, at 10:30 am, followed by a graveside service at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes.
