Alicia Sepulveda

June 4, 1937 — October 15, 2016

WESLACO - Maria "Alicia" Sepulveda, 79, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother departed to reside in the house of the Lord on Saturday, October 15, 2016 surrounded by her beloved family. Born on June 4, 1937 in Elsa, Texas, she was a long-time resident and member of a pioneer family of Weslaco. She married the love of her life, Eliberto "Bert" Sepulveda on April 24, 1954. Alicia was simply "Grandma" to all the children that she looked after in the daycare that she ran for many-many years out of her home. She loved to cook for all her family and kids. Even when her kitchen had been cleaned after a meal, if someone came to visit, she would prepare her guests a little something to eat. Another passion of hers was sewing and needlepoint. She made comforters for all her grandchildren, all by hand, and not a one exactly alike. She will be missed by all her kids. She also served the Lord as a Eucharistic minister at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Alicia is preceded in death by her parents, Eulalio and Rita Salinas, her husband of 56 years Eliberto Sepulveda, three sons, Ricardo Sepulveda, Jaime Sepulveda, and Eliberto "Berty" Sepulveda Jr. Brothers, Ernesto, Lalo, Enrique Salinas, and sister, Ines Castillo. She is survived by her daughters, Sylvia (Ricardo) Hernandez, Norma Jean Sepulveda, Irma (Javier) Hernandez, and son Carlos (Patricia) Sepulveda. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren, and all the children she cared for in her daycare. She considered them all her kids too, many of whom are adults with children of their own. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco from 4pm to 9pm with a rosary scheduled for 7 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 10 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Weslaco. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco. Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Trevino, Eric John de Leon, Daniel Garcia, Ramiro Garza, Jaime Garza, and Joseph Sepulveda. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Andres Sepulveda, Dr Robert Sepulveda, Ruben Sepulveda, Domingo Sepulveda, Albert Sepulveda, Adrian Limas, and Aaron Sepulveda. Arrangements are under the care of McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.
