Alma Louise Rogers

January 31, 1940 — August 18, 2018

WESLACO - Alma "Louise" Rogers, 78, left this world to play in the Eternal Gardens on August 18, 2018. She was born on January 31, 1940, to Earl and Ruby Mae Dick in Limestone County, Texas. She moved to Houston, Texas to live with relatives where she met and married her husband, Hugh W. Rogers, on December 4, 1957, and had three children. Louise started working in the banking industry in McAllen, Texas and devoted 19 additional years at Frost Bank in San Antonio, Texas before falling ill in 2004 with numerous illnesses. In 2006, she was brought to Weslaco, Texas to spend the remainder of her life under her daughter, Karen's, care. Louise's interests included spending time with family, traveling, taking special adventures with grandchildren, sewing, crafting, and gardening. Her indulgences were eating endless amounts of frog legs at Arturo's, enjoying bottomless bowls of boiled shrimp on her many trips to the beach, being a regular at Cracker Barrell, and forever being a prankster with her siblings. Louise will be remembered for her time and energy devoted to volunteering in the local community. Her smile and charm inspired all who knew her; she always had a way of making everyone feel special. Mrs. Rogers is survived by her brothers, John Dick and Ricky Dick and his spouse, Frances of Groesbeck, TX, her sister Sue Allen, and spouse, Bobby of Cisco, TX, sister-in-law Caroline Rogers✝, her daughters Karen Gatton, and spouse, Bobby of Weslaco, Jacque Smith of Georgetown, TX, her grandchildren Kyndra Munoz and spouse, Alex of San Antonio, TX, Mandy Gatton of Austin, TX, and Austin Smith of Jacksonville, FL, great-grandchildren Bailey, Kaidyn, and Zane, and numerous nieces and nephews. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Ruby Mae Dick, her husband Hugh W. Rogers, and son Russell Rogers.
