Weslaco- Angelita H. Gonzalez, 84, went home to our Lord on Sunday, June 3rd, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at Amara Hospice in Edinburg. She was born in Weslaco, Texas on May 23rd to Octavio Hernandez and Maria de los Angeles Islas. She attended school in Weslaco and raised her two children, Maria Dolores and John Joseph. Angelita worked as a seamstress at Dickies for over twenty years when she retired. She loved to crochet and sew even when she wasn't at work. She was a great cook and also spent countless hours in her garden, caring for her plants and beautifying her yard. She also loved to play bingo and was quite competitive. Angelita is preceded in death by her parents, Octavio and Maria de los Angeles Hernandez, her loving husband, Paul Gonzalez, her siblings, Hortemio Hernandez, Onne Hernandez, Lydia Valdez, Olga Munoz, and Anita Cardenas. She is survived by her daughter, Maria Dolores Salinas of Weslaco, step-son, John Joseph Gonzalez (Claudia) of Edinburg, granddaughters, Megan Salinas (Eddie Vasquez) of Edinburg, Cassandra Salinas (Jorge Zurita) of Weslaco, Tiana Renee Broccolious (Chad) of New York, Marlena Gonzalez of Mission, great-grandchild, Emma Rose Zurita, brothers, Octavio Hernandez Jr. (Marta) of Lansing, Michigan, Oscar Hernandez (Yolanda) of Sunny Side, Washington, Odelia Salazar (Roy) of Richardson, TX, Hortencia Flores (Abel+) of Weslaco, and Alicia Flores of Weslaco. The family would also like to thank the loving and caring staff at Amara Hospice. Angelita will always be remembered for her love of Christ, her Catholic faith, and her contagious smile
