WESLACO - Anthony Salinas passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, in Alamo. He was born on May 15th, 1977 to Rafael and Olga Salinas in Nampa, Idaho. He had three brothers and a sister. Anthony was raised in Donna where he graduated high school in 1995 and immediately joined the army where he served the next 15 years. He was stationed in Germany where he met his wife, Kerstein. They had one daughter together, Crystal. While serving his country, Anthony earned several awards, including Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, to name a few. Anthony was honorably discharged in 2010 and he returned to Alamo where he began working on his degree in Psychology. Anthony worked as a security guard for several years at Bolt Security and continued to reside in Alamo after his divorce from Kerstein. When he was not working he was a die-hard college football fan. He loved the Cowboys and all college ball. When he was not watching sports, he enjoyed watching movies and listening to music. Anthony is preceded in death by his brother Alejandro Salinas. He is survived by his parents, Rafael and Olga Salinas of Alamo, daughter, Crystal Salinas of Germany, his sister, Dalia Salinas of Donna, brothers, Albert Salinas of Weslaco and Rafael Salinas Jr. of Austin, sister in law, Julie Salinas of Alamo, nephews Enrique Cardona, Jose Miguel Cardona, and Devin Salinas, and Rafael Salinas III, and nieces, Christina Cardona and Nevaeh Salinas. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018 from 2-9pm at McCaleb Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 4th, at 11:30 am at McCaleb Funeral Home with burial to follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veteran's Cemetery in Mission, TX.
