Arthur Acenscion Garcia

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Arthur Acenscion Garcia, age 41, on December 12, 2024, in Mission, Texas. Art passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones who cared for him deeply until the end. Though he was taken from us too soon, Art’s love, laughter, and light will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Born on May 7, 1983, in Modesto, California, Art grew up in Lamesa, Texas, where he cultivated the kindness and compassion that would become the hallmark of his life. He graduated from the University of Texas Permian Basin and went on to become a special education teacher, a career that brought him immense fulfillment.

Art was a passionate and devoted educator who profoundly impacted the lives of his students. He believed deeply in their potential and advocated tirelessly on their behalf. His patience, encouragement, and genuine care left a permanent mark on all those he taught.

He is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Lopez Garcia, age 59. While Art’s passing leaves an immeasurable void, there is comfort in knowing he now rests in the comforting embrace of his father, with whom he shared a deep, unbreakable bond.

Art is survived by his beloved family, who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. He is survived by his loving mother, Connie Garcia of Mission, Texas; his cherished grandmother, Elvira Contreras of Hebbronville, Texas; and his siblings: Amanda Oyerbides (Joshua) of Midland, Texas; Anita Contreras (Joe) of Montgomery, Texas; and Rocky Lee Garcia (Felicia) of Tehachapi, California. Art also leaves behind his beloved nephews, Ryan, Noah, and Presley, his great-nephews Lukas and Liam, and great-niece Olivia, all of whom he adored and held close to his heart. He is also survived by his loyal pets, GiGi, Bentley, Jak, and Cash, who stayed by his side throughout his illness.

Art’s family was the cornerstone of his life. The bond they shared was unbreakable, filled with Unconditional love. While his absence leaves an irreplaceable void, the love and joy he brought to their lives will continue to guide them.

Art’s friendships were equally meaningful, and he never met a stranger. A loyal confidant and unwavering source of strength, he made everyone feel seen and valued. His warmth and generosity left a lasting impact, and his infectious laughter brightened every room. Art had a rare gift for bringing people together, lifting their spirits, and showing them the beauty of life, even in tough times. He loved music, concerts, dancing, and, most of all, he loved to sing. He was known for his singing and love of Karaoke, and his vibrant energy at every gathering made him a favorite among friends and family. His kindness, humor, and ability to see the good in others made him a friend like no other, and his presence was a true gift to all who knew him.

Art’s absence leaves a deep ache in the hearts of his family and friends, but we take comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his father. While we mourn the moments we won’t get to share, we are forever grateful for the time we had with him and the lasting impact he made on our lives. Though his time with us was far too short, Art’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. We honor his legacy by cherishing the moments we shared and striving to embody the kindness he so effortlessly gave to the world.

Art’s legacy is one of love, joy, and kindness. He will be remembered for the warmth he radiated, the friendships he nurtured, and the many ways he taught us to love and live fully. The light he brought into the lives of others will never fade, and we will miss him more than words can express. His kindness, loyalty, and friendship will continue to live on in all the lives he touched. Art was indeed one of a kind, and the world is better for having had him in it.

A celebration of Art’s life will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at Kingdom Culture Church, located at 1013 N. 2nd Street in Lamesa, Texas. Pastor Jeremiah Aguayo will officiate the service as family and friends gather to honor Art’s memory and share stories of the incredible person he was.

Rest in peace, Art. Your love, laughter, and light will never fade, and your memory will live on in all of us.
