Ashley Danielle Vasquez

WESLACO -Ashley Danielle Vasquez, 19, passed away on Friday, January 13 th in Weslaco. Ashley was born on January 17 th , 1997 to Esmeralda Carmona and Jose Refugio Vasquez. She was raised by her mom and step dad, Ramiro Zamora. Ashley graduated from Weslaco East in 2015 where she excelled in sports. She was a member of the Starlettes and the Weslaco East Power Lifting Team. She attended STC and was studying psychology. She worked part time for her mom at EZ Tax solutions in downtown Weslaco. One of Ashley's talents and passions was singing. She had a beautiful voice and she loved to use it. She also loved to work out and lift weights. Her favorite place to relax was the beach and she spent a lot of time at South Padre Island. Ashley was fortunate enough to do a lot of traveling in her short life and she thoroughly enjoyed it. She and her family would visit 48 states in the United States and visited every capital and landmark when they were there. Some of the highlights were Disney World, of course, Hersheyville, and the Statue of Liberty. Her favorite state was Michigan, but she wanted to someday settle down in Arkansas, where they had many relatives. Ashley had a special love of Indians and anything native American just fascinated her. Ashley is preceded in death by her biological grandparents, Estefana and Juan Vasquez. Ashley Danielle is survived by her maternal grandparents, Manuel and Adela Carmona, her paternal grandparents, Marcela and Gilberto Zamora, father, Jose Refugio Vasquez, her step-dad, Ramiro Zamora, her mom, Esmeralda Carmona, her brothers, Juan Carmona, Joshua Zamora, and Rolando Zamora, her sisters, Ruby Nicole Vasquez, Abigail Vasquez, Brenda Zamora, Nora L. Tovar, her step brothers, Ramiro Zamora Jr., Adrian Zamora, and Alex Zamora, her aunts, Mireya Carmona, Lourdes Vasquez (Pedro), Nora Martinez (Gabriel), Maria Guadalupe Carmona, Martha Bocanegra, Araceli Sherchand (Kailash), Maria Bautista (Mario), Florestella Salazar (Humberto), San Juana Vasquez, Hanani Vasquez, Martha Garcia (Manuel), Irma Yolanda Garcia (Valerio), uncles, Jesus Carmona, and Ricardo Carmona (Martha), Alfredo Vasquez, Poncho Vasquez, Sergio Vasquez, numerous nieces and one nephew. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18th, from 1-9pm at McCaleb Funeral Home, chapel service will be held on Thursday, January 19th, at 10am, at McCaleb Chapel. Burial will follow at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes.
