Edinburg: Baleriano Sierra Gonzalez Sr., 79, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022, at DHR in Edinburg. Baleriano was born on January 28, 1943, to Casimiro and Blasa (Sierra) Gonzalez in Elsa, Texas. Baleriano’s family worked in agriculture and migrated in the summers. While he was working in California, he met his soulmate, Gregoria Molina. As soon as Gregoria turned eighteen, Baleriano and Gregoria were married and spent the next fifty-four years together. They raised seven children together and continued to work in agriculture, spending summers traveling up North with their children.
Baleriano loved to go fishing with his brothers and sons. He also raised roosters. Baleriano led with a stern but loving demeanor. Baleriano loved telling stories to his grandchildren and enjoyed his days at home watching western movies. He enjoyed planting and seeing things grow. He was charismatic and lit up the room with his jokester personality. Baleriano was always willing to help others in need and never expected anything in return.
Baleriano is preceded in death by his parents Casimiro and Blasa Gonzalez, son, Casimiro Gonzalez, siblings, Paula Sepulveda (Baudelio), Casimiro Gonzalez, Julian Gonzalez (Leeandra), and Monico Gonzalez (Guadalupe).
He is survived by his loving wife, Gregoria Gonzalez, children, Baleriano Gonzalez Jr. (Viviana), Gregoria “Greg” Davila (David), Eulalio Gonzalez (Cecilia Reyes), Benito Gonzalez (Alma), Steven Gonzalez (Christina), and Dora Reyes (Israel), siblings, Ambrosio Gonzalez (Maria+), and Dominga Arce (Rogelio), sister in law, Ramona (widow of Casimiro), grandchildren Baleriano Gonzalez III, Robert Gonzalez (Gisela) Andrea Marie Ybarra (Isaiah), Casey Marie Davila, Sydney Lee Villegas (Oscar), Mandy Ann Davila, Olivia Rae-lynn Davila, Nicolas Gonzalez, Natalia Gonzalez, Nathaniel Gonzalez, Brianna Angelica Gonzalez, Issac Reyes, Abigail Reyes, Elizabeth Reyes, Kristen Reyes, Ezekiel Reyes, Luke Reyes, Eulalio Gonzalez Jr, Casimiro Gonzalez, Israel Gonzalez, Justice Gonzalez, Luzmia Gonzalez, Luzcelinda Gonzalez, Faith Gonzalez, Glory Gonzalez, 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, February 4th, 12 pm-9 pm, and Saturday, February 5th, 11 am-2 pm, with a celebration of life at 2 pm.
