Weslaco/Mercedes: Belen S Guerra, 98, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Thursday, July 16th, 2015. Belen was born in Mexico to Aurlio Sobrevilla and Ciprinana Hernandez. She is also proceeded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Eduardo Guerra Sr, her daughter, Maria del Carmen, one brother and six sisters.
She is survived by her sons, Eduardo “Lalo” (Estella), Juan “Chato” (Nira), Luis (Dina), Mike, Antonio Aurlio “Wayo” (Maria), Manuel (Maria) and Pete (Sandra) Guerra.
She is also survived by her daughters, Elvira (Ramiro) Salinas, Elvia (David) Galvan, Elida (Buddy) Silva, Elma (Miguel Jr.) Gonzales, Yolanda (Jaime) Chavez and her sisters, Anita Hernandez and Casilda Sobrevilla, many gradchildre, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as nephews and nieces.
Belen will always be remembered as a loving and giving mother of her children who she united together with her husband. Belen loved to cook and bring all the kids together to celebrate a good homemade meal. One of Belen's favorite hobbies was raising chickens and birds. She also enjoyed tending to her garden and caring for her flowers, her favorite was the white rose. She was very at peace with nature.
She was also a devoted wife caring for her husband for over 66 years until his passing in 2001 at which time, she continued to be very independent. She never wanted to be helped, even at the age of 98 years old.
Among Belen’s most remembered hobbies, was her love of her Lord and Savior, she read her Bible daily and was a God fearing woman.
Belen was a beautiful woman, who raised her children with the same values that she felt were important. She will be truly missed.
