Benito Medelez

Weslaco- Benito G. Medelez, 72 passed away on Monday, February 8th, 2016 at the Aurora House in Weslaco. He was born on October 5th, 1943, to Ramon and Andrea Medelez.
Benito was a very hard worker. He was one of 12 children and helped raise the siblings when his father passed away at a young age of 61. As a young boy, he migrated with his family to West Texas yearly to pick cotton. Later they would migrate to Wheatland, Wyoming. He continued migrating in his early adult life. He was also a carpenter and somewhat of an entrepreneur. He was a truck driver and even bought and sold cars on his own.
Benito will be fondly remembered by his siblings who thought of him as a father. Still surviving are Lorenzo Medelez (Yvonne), Ramon Medelez (Juana), Carlos Medelez, Jose Medelez (Maria), Isabel Delgado (Miguel), Lydia DeLeon (Israel), Dianna Medelez, Luis Medelez, and Andrea Arranda (Roy). He also left behind numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Andrea Medelez, his sister, Sira Medelez, and his brother, Erasmo Medelez.
Benito will be forever remembered by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10-9pm at McCaleb Funeral Home, with a rosary at 7pm. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 11th, at 10am, with interment to follow at Weslaco City Cemetery.
