Beulah Claire Garrett

Weslaco- Beulah Claire Garrett, 88, entered Eternal Life on Friday, March 13, 2020. Beulah was born in on March 29, 1931, in San Juan, Texas, to William Alexander Graham and Carrie Anice Thomas Graham, one of twelve children. She grew up in San Juan until the family moved to Edcouch. Beulah graduated from Edcouch High School in 1948. She was married soon after graduation and had six children.

Beulah worked in the administration department at Edcouch ISD for a few years and Progreso ISD for many years. She enjoyed administration and was took pride in her detailed and impeccable penmanship and grammar skills. Beulah also studied shorthand at Pan American University for two years.

When the children were grown, she took over the family dry cleaning business, Fabri Care, which she successfully owned and operated for many years in downtown Weslaco.

Beulah had many hobbies. She was very active in the First Baptist Church of Weslaco and a member of the choir. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Beulah liked sports and was a Texas Tech football fan. By far, her favorite past time, before Facebook and Twitter, was her CB radio. Beulah went by the handle of “Stormy,” and she had quite the fan club. She spent many evenings on her CB radio and met lots of entertaining friends along the way. Beulah was able to meet many of her radio friends in person over the years. She was no stranger to technology, adopting Facebook and Twitter before most people knew what it was. She had over 6100 followers on twitter and enjoyed the open and public platform where she could voice her opinion.

Beulah is preceded in death by her parents, William and Carrie Garrett, siblings, Lee Thomas, Roy Graham, Eugene Graham, Jewel Graham Floyd, Sammy Graham, Marvin Graham, Lonnie Garrett, and Cleo Graham-Hand, and her son, Bradley Garrett.

She is survived by her children, Beverly Bacak (Ed) of Corpus Christi, Barry Garrett (Cindy) of Edcouch, Russell “Rusty” Garrett of Corpus Christi, Richard “Sammy” Garrett Sr (Janene) of Weslaco, and Roger Garrett (Janie) of Mathis, grandchildren, Amanda Sanchez (David), Andrea McGowan (Matt), Cullin Bacak (Lauren), Patrick Garrett (Caitlin), Levi Garrett (Sunni), Jodi Gatewood (Jamie), Justin Garrett (Sara), Jamie Dalasio (Mark), Pamela Garrett, Richard Garrett (Kally), Alexis Murphy (Matt), Sean Garrett (Heather), Mark Garrett (Jill), and Holly Chapman, great-grandchildren, Dustin and Lexi Sanchez Rose, Sloan and Riley McGowan, Brooks and Baker Bacak, Brighton and Brindle Garrett, Willow Rose and Radley Garrett, Kyle, Price, and JT Garrett, Brennan and Cecilia Delasio, Sebastian, Waylon, and Wyatt Garrett, Lilly Ann, Ellannore, and Bellemmy Murphey, Bailey and Corbin Chapman, Grace and Luke Garrett, Trystan, Damion, and Amber Garrett, and great-great grandchildren, Nova Skye and Atlas Everest Garrett, numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be Monday, March 16th, 10 am-3:30 pm at McCaleb Funeral Home. A celebration of Beulah’s life will follow at 3:30 pm, officiated by Dr. Rev. Steven Parker of First Baptist Church Weslaco. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park.
