Weslaco - Bobby McDaniel, 93 went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 7th, 2015. He was born on September 17th, 1921 in Elmo, Texas to Lon and Eula McDaniel. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Marcalee Carter McDaniel. Bobby is survived by his children, Rusty (Nancy†) McDaniel, Don (Becky) McDaniel, Terry (Linda) McDaniel and Laurie (Jim) Starkey and 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was one of 14 children and is survived by his sister, Helen Moore and his brother SD McDaniel.
Bobby was a well-known and respected south Texas farmer for over 50 years. He contributed to the agricultural community by serving on the Progreso Co-op Board as well as the Gulf Compress Board for years.
Bobby was a devout Christian man who was an active deacon in the First Baptist Church for nearly 60 years. He served on numerous committees and was instrumental in the growth of the First Baptist Church of Weslaco.
Bobby was a proud veteran who served our country during WWII. He was Master Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy and earned 3 Bronze Stars in the Pacific (Saipan, Iwo Jima, & Tinian) and 1 Bronze Star for Liberation of the Philippines.
Visitation will be held at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco on Sunday, May 10th, from 5pm-7pm and funeral services will take place on Monday, May 11th at 10:00 am at McCaleb Funeral Home with Dr. Rev Steve Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Weslaco or to the Knapp Hospice.
