Candelario Martinez

February 2, 1937 — October 28, 2015

WESLACO - Candelario Martinez, 78, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015.
Candelario Martinez was born on February 2, 1937 in Sabinas, Hidalgo, Nuevo Leon. Soon after moving to Weslaco, Texas Cande met the love of his life, Cruz De Luna. After finally catching her attention, Cruz let Cande take her to the movies. It wasn’t long after that he won her over. They soon married on January 24, 1964 at St. Joan of Arc. The two shared a love of dancing, going to the beach, spending time with family, and attending mass weekly. Their love knew no bounds, and will continue to go on. After 51 years of marriage, Cande passed with his soulmate by his side.

Cande had a rather large family consisting of two brothers, †Manuel and †Gumero Sr. Martinez, and five sisters, †Amada, †Julia, †Anita, Romana, and Maria Elena Martinez so it didn’t come as any surprise that he and Cruz decided to have a large family of their own. Together they had four girls †Hilda, †Lilia, Linda, Lucy and one boy Candelario Jr. Cande was known by all for his good sense of humor, positive outlook on life, being a hardworker, and making the best darn Mexican-Style Chile and frijoles ala charra. Cande was huge fan of WWE, never missed an episode on Mondays, loved to fish, was gifted with a green thumb, and never failed to make a friend wherever he went. It was always the little things that would brighten his day whether it be sitting on the porch of the house he helped build himself taking in the scenery, seeing his children and grandkids, or spending time with his wife.
To Cande, a husband, a father, a grandfather, an uncle, a brother we all thank you for the laughs you gave us with your sassy remarks, the genuinely loving relationships you created with each one of us, and the valuable life lessons you have taught each one of us. Cande, you will be greatly missed by all who knew you. You are always in our thoughts. With all the love in the world, may you finally rest in peace.
