In Loving Memory of Carlos (Charlie) Cantu Jr.

February 17, 1942-February 22, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carlos (Charlie) Cantu, Jr., a devoted husband, cherished father, proud grandfather, and loving great-grandfather. He left this world peacefully on February 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Carlos lived a life rich with love, joy, and unwavering dedication to God, family, and work. He was the rock of our family, a man whose kindness, wisdom, and laughter filled every room. His love for life was matched only by his love for those around him. He taught us the true meaning of integrity, hard work, and compassion. Carlos served his church as an elder and treasurer. He worked for Donalson Ford and Boggus Ford for a total of thirty-nine years.

Carlos was not only a family man but also a passionate sports enthusiast, particularly an avid golfer. Whether cheering from the stands for his Weslaco High Panthers or Weslaco East Wildcats, his love for sports was contagious. Father of golf and track and field MVPs, his legacy of grit on the course, on the track, or at work live on.

Carlos leaves behind his devoted wife, Estella; his children, Orlando, Cris Cantu Valdez, Carlos (Noemi) Cantu III, and Cynthia (David) Anthony; his nine grandchildren, and his two great-grandchildren, each of whom carry forward his legacy of love, strength, and grit. His spirit will live on in every shared family tradition, in every story told, and in every sporting event watched.

Visitation will be held at McCaleb Funeral Home on Thursday, February 27th, from 2:00 pm-9:00 pm, with a celebration of his life will be held at 7:00 pm. We invite all who knew him to join us in remembering a remarkable man who touched so many lives.

Though our hearts ache with his loss, we find comfort in knowing that his love and legacy will continue to shine through all of us. He was truly a blessing to everyone who had the privilege to know him, and he will be missed more than words can express.
