Weslaco/Tucson, Arizona-Carmel “Pepe” Perez Jr, 65, passed away on Wednesday, December 22nd, 2021, at Northwest Hospital in Tucson, Arizona. On June 2nd, 1956, Carmel was born to Carmen and Dominga Perez. Carmel grew up in Weslaco, where he graduated from high school and spent most of his life. Pepe also lived in Ohio, Kentucky, and Arizona for many years when he worked in the coal mines and concrete business.
Pepe loved watching sci-fi movies, hunting, fishing, listening to Tejano and Christian music, and listening to the Bible on CDs. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and never missed a game.
Pepe’s children were his pride and joy. He worked hard to provide for them and was very proud of their accomplishments.
When Pepe worked in Kentucky, Pepe got baptized and gave his life to Christ. Pepe was very spiritual and enjoyed learning as much as possible about the Bible. He was a dedicated servant of Christ and helped build the Light House Church, where he was a faithful member.
Pepe is preceded in death by his father, Carmen Perez Sr.
He is survived by his mom, Dominga Perez, his companion, and friend, Linda Lash, eight children, Amber Kay Perez, Theresa Russell Perez, Bridgette Ashley Hupp Perez (Travis Hupp), Ashley Amber Marie Minks Perez (Christopher Minks), Alyssa Katherine Perez, Josiah Dylan Perez, Jordan Thomas Tamryn Perez, and Zion Mathias Perez, nine siblings, Armando Perez (Francis), Pedro Perez (Linda), Jose Luis Perez (Maria), Anna Maria Perez (Leonel Vega), Martina Perez (Baldo Montaño), Mirella Perez, Maricela Perez (Johnny DeLeon), Juan M. Perez (Sindy), Jesus Perez, fifteen grandchildren, Tavian Maurice Bumpas, Tyberias Bumpas, Taryn Jade, Daniel Russell Jr, Jordyn Russell, Kobi Russell, Tanner Hupp, Alexis Hupp, William Burnett, Aubree Bogue, Lilliana Perez-Young, Dustin Collins Jr, Kaylee, Aaliyah, and Adrian, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 2nd, 2022, from 1-9 pm, with a prayer service at 6 pm, officiated by Rev. Mario Perez. Graveside service will be Monday, January 3rd, 10 am burial at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes.
Tannar Wade Hupp, Christopher Minks, Jesus Perez, Pedro Perez, Juan M. Perez, and Jose Perez will serve as pallbearers.
