La Feria- Carmen Zuniga, 89, passed away on Wednesday, July 29th, 2020 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. Carmen was born on May 01, 1931, to Jose Julian and Frutosa Reyes Gonzalez n Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
She married Elias Hernandez Sr., and they had four children together. After his untimely death, Carmen married Ezequiel Zuniga Sr. and they also have four more children.
Carmen loved living on her ranch in La Feria. Where she raised chickens, horses, and all kinds of animals. She loved doing her crossword puzzles and playing chalupa.
Carmen is preceded in death by her husbands, Elias Hernandez Sr. and Ezequiel Zuniga Sr., sons, Guadalupe Hernandez, and Jose Luis Zuniga, siblings, Serapio Gonzalez and Florentino Gonzalez.
She is survived by her children, Juana Maria Guajardo (Juan Luis), Elias Hernandez (Rosario), Dionicia Gonzales (Jesse), Ezequiel Zuniga Jr., Sara Sanchez (Robert), Maria Elena Anciso (Paul), brother, Juan Fidel Gonzales (Aurora+).
Visitation will be Sunday, August 16th, from 2-9 pm, with a rosary at 5 pm. Graveside services will be Monday, August 17th, 2020, at 1 pm, at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Mercedes.
Serving as pallbearers will be Roman Garza, Mario Garza, Jose S. Garza, Jessie Gonzales, Edward Anciso, Jorge Correa, and Nino Gonzales.
