Donna-Cayetano Gutierrez Sr., 53 passed away on Friday, March 18th, 2016. He was born in Matamoros, Mexico to Norberto and Maria Montoya Gutierrez. He was one of ten siblings. Surviving siblings are Ernesto Gutierrez of Mexico, Mateo Gutierrez of Brownsville, David Gutierrez of Donna, Manueal Segura of Weslaco, Elena Gomez of Weslaco, Felipa Solis of Iowa, Delia Tellez of Weslaco, and Maria Luisa Gutierrez of Mexico.
Cayetano came to the United States in 1975 and began earning a living by migrating up North. It was there, in Indiana while they were both working in the tomato field, that he met the love of his life, Martha. They would settle in Donna, Texas and raise their family all while carrying on the tradition of hard work, migrating every summer up North.
Cayetano was a great father, he and Martha would have five of their own children, Cayetano Jr., Carlos, Jannet, Jerry, and Alex. He would also have a son-in law, Tristan Sanks and one grandson, Keyen Sanks.
Cayetano loved to be outside, he loved working in the yard and working on cars. He was a natural mechanic and enjoyed fixing his own vehicle, especially his red truck.He also drove a tractor for Rio Grande Sugar Growers for many years. Cayetano had a special love for pets, he welcomed many into the home and he leaves behind two boxers, Shakira and Nala, and a few chickens who he loved dearly.
Cayetano is preceded in death by his father, Norberto and his sister, Eufemia Trejo. He is survived by his loving wife, Martha, his children, Cayetano Jr., Carlos, Jannet (Tristan), Jerry, and Alex, his only beloved grandson, Keyen Sanks, his siblings, Ernesto Gutierrez, Mateo Gutierrez, David Gutierrez, Manueal Segura, Elena Gomez, Felipa Solis and Maria Luisa Gutierrez, his two beloved boxers, Shakira and Nala, numerous nephews and nieces, cousins, numerous pets and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cayetano Jr., Carlos, Jerry, Alex, Tristan Sanks, and Martin Silva.
He will always be remembered.
