WESLACO - Celia Garcia, 90, passed away on Thursday, October 5th, 2017 at Retama Manor in Weslaco. Celia was born on October 21, 1926 to Donicio and Josefa Garcia in Reynosa, Mexico. She migrated to Weslaco in 1939 where she was raised. She worked with her family in the fields as a young girl and even as she became an adult. She married Samuel Garcia and they had one daughter together, Celia took in her six grandchildren and raised them as her own children. She was a great cook and the grandchildren fondly remember her many dishes. She loved tending her garden and would spend many hours outside. Celia will mostly be remembered as a selfless and caring mother and grandmother, who loved to nurture and cherish her family. Celia is preceded in death by her parents, Donicio and Josefa Garcia, her husband, Samuel Garcia, her daughter, San Juanita Garcia, her sister, Josefina Perez and her brother, Narciso Garcia. She is survived by her daughter, Maria Christina Montes (Roque) of Weslaco, her grandchildren who she raised, San Juanita Juarez (Luis Leal) of Weslaco, Roberto Juarez (Enedelia) of Weslaco, Samuel Juarez of Weslaco, Julio Juarez (Monica Reyes) of Weslaco, Uvaldo Juarez of McAllen, and Esmeralda Garrido (Mauricio Trejo) of Iowa, eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
