Concepcíon "Chon" Gonzalez Jr., a devoted farmer and passionate bow and arrow craftsman, departed this life on December 12, 2024, at the Aurora House in Weslaco, Texas. Born on December 29, 1941, in Weslaco, Chon was a true reflection of his beloved community and will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, friends, and the simple joys of life. Throughout his life, Chon embraced the roles of husband and father with heartfelt commitment. From sunrise to sunset, he worked as a farmer to support his wife and children. Chon was known as a family man who created a warm atmosphere around him, drawing his loved ones together for barbecues and cherished gatherings.

His passion for the great outdoors led him to enjoy fishing and hunting, particularly with his bow and arrow, an art he practiced enthusiastically and skillfully. Chon’s passion for archery began as a sport, but building bows and arrows soon became a full-time hobby. The attention to detail and the craftsmanship in his bows and arrows were evident when each archery seemed like a work of art. He shared these moments with his family, fostering a love for adventure and nature in his children and grandchildren.

Chon's interests extended to the enjoyment of Western movies, which complemented his love for activities at the ranch, where he created lasting memories that would linger in the hearts of all who knew him. He derived happiness from watching videos with his grandchildren, a genuine reflection of his playful spirit and a testament to the bonds he nurtured across generations. Chon was a faithful and devoted Catholic. He attended mass as often as possible and had all of his sacraments.

Concepcíon “Chon” is preceded in death by his parents, Concepcíon Sr. and Maria (De La Luz) Gonzalez; his siblings, Rodolfo Gonzalez, Aurora Gonzalez, Baldemar Gonzalez (Criselda), Emeterio Gonzalez, and Maria Garza; siblings in law, Jose Tovar, Edelydia Rodriguez (Agapito), Alicia Tamez (Luis), nephews, Eduardo Gonzalez and Louie Tamez.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dora T. Gonzalez their children, Robert Gonzalez (Connie), Michael Gonzalez (Isela), Patricia Lopez; siblings, Alfredo Gonzalez (Anita), Olivia Flores (Raul), siblings-in-law, Rosario Gonzalez (Rodolfo+), Delia Gonzalez (Emeterio+), Gloria Gonzalez (Raymond), Consuelo Tovar grandchildren, Ashley Conner (Bryan), Robert Gonzalez Jr.(Paloma), Brandan Gonzalez (Maylen), Miguel Alejandro Gonzalez, Sabella Gonzalez, Ricky Lopez Jr., Christian Lopez, Brayden Sachs, great-grandchildren, Raelynn, Katelyn, and Alessandro….

Chon's legacy will continue through the countless memories he shared with family and friends. A visitation to honor his life will be held on December 15, 2024, from 1:00 to 9:00 PM at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco, with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. A Mass celebrating Chon's life will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. As we remember Chon, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and the beauty of everyday moments shared with those he cherished most. His spirit will continue to inspire all lucky to know him.
