San Juan- Dañian Cantu, 17, passed away on Thursday, October 26th, 2017 in a tragic car accident. Dañian was born on February 27th, 2000 to Fernando and Carmen Cantu. He played sports as a young boy, football and baseball. He went to school in San Juan and graduated early. He was anxious to move on with life and not interested in taking baby steps. He was driven and when he decided to do something, it was hard to change his mind. As Dañian grew up, he enjoyed playing XBox and spending time with his friends. He loved listening to music, especially the latest rap songs. Dañian loved to dress up and had expensive taste, especially when it came to his tennis shoes. Dañian loved to be outdoors. He loved to go fishing. He and his dad enjoyed morning workouts together. Dañian had hopes and dreams like most young men. He had planned to follow in his dad's footsteps and enroll in the EMT program at STC. He would have been a great EMT as Dañian was naturally a very loving and caring person. Dañian was part of a blended family and played his role well. He was a typical big brother, but when the time arose, he stepped up to care for all of his siblings. Most who knew Dañian would remember his big heart who cared deeply for anyone who crossed his path. Dañian is preceded in death by his grandfather, Guadalupe Cantu. He is survived by his mom, Carmen Cantu of Weslaco, his dad, Fernando Cantu (Janie Guajardo) of San Juan, his maternal grandmother, Yolanda Gonzalez, paternal grandparents Fernando and Remi Cantu of San Juan, his sisters, Britni Nicole Martinez and Jade Ramirez, his brothers, Brandon Ramirez and Abel Cantu, his aunts, Linda Hernandez of La Feria, Diana Naranjo (Marty) of San Benito, Veronica Cantu of San Juan, his uncles, Abraham Hernandez (Gloria) of Harlingen, and his niece, Lynette Rodriguez, his friend and mentor, Carlos Javier Ramirez. Mass will be held on Monday, October 30th, at 10 am at San Martin de Porres in Weslaco. Burial will follow at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes.
