Donna,TX- Diana Guerra Hernandez, 52, passed away after a courageous battle with endometrial cancer. She was at Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, surrounded by her family.
Diana was born on February 19th, 1970 in Weslaco, Texas, to Aurelio Antonio and Maria (Ozuna) Guerra. She grew up in Weslaco and graduated from Weslaco High School. Diana was a very young mom to three children, Ruby, Rolando, and Abigail. She also worked full-time for the rest of her life.
Diana was a strict mom and determined to instill crucial values while raising her children. Diana taught them the importance of commitment and loyalty through her work ethic and responsibility.
Diana taught them the importance of integrity and respect by demanding they make curfew.
When Diana wasn’t working or supervising her children, her favorite pastime was the thrill of the “maquinitas” and casinos. She also loved shopping and had an array of stylish shoes. In addition, Diana enjoyed the ocean, spending the day at the beach, and fishing.
Diana met her soulmate later in life, Elver Hernandez. She and Elver were a perfect match.
Around this time, Diana accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She and Elver spent most of their free time serving at Iglesia Casa de Dios. In typical Diana style, her dedication was relentless. Diana, as feisty as she was, was also selfless and compassionate. She was always willing to volunteer, whether with the food bank, choir, or any other capacity. Diana was a child of God and had a servant’s heart. The last ten years of her life were spent in peace and comfort, finding true earthly and spiritual love.
Diana is preceded in death by her father, Aurelio Antonio Guerra Sr., and nephew, JD Santellana.
She is survived by her husband, Elver Hernandez; her mom, Maria Guerra; children, Ruby Limon (Eleazar), Rolando Contreras (Eva Jaqueline “Jacky”), Abigail Jasso (Mauricio); brother, Aurelio Antonio “Tony” Guerra Jr. (Rosalinda), sister, Dina De la Rosa (Andres), grandchildren, Ellie Zara Limon, Jaylynn, Rolando Jr., and Evalyn Contreras, Adalynn Pecero, Hannah and Destiny Jasso.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 8th, 10 am-9 pm, with a prayer service at 7 pm at McCaleb Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, November 9th, at 10 am, at McCaleb Funeral Home, followed by burial at Sacred Park Cemetery.
