Donald Guest

September 29, 1954 — March 21, 2016

Edcouch- Donald Kerry "Cookie" Guest was born on September 29, 1954 in Harlingen, Texas to George Donald and Anna Beth Brown Guest. He graduated from Raymondville High School with a high interest in welding, FFA, and working alongside his father at Guest Construction. Shortly after high school, he fell in love and married Janet Elaine Tobola, from McAllen. They built a home north of Edcouch, on a serene piece of land, and started their own business. Guest Cabinets made an incredible impact on the entire Rio Grande Valley, as Cookie constructed homes, schools, restaurants, as well as countless businesses, and handcrafted interior work for clients who became friends. He had a reputation for being an humble man who created masterpieces from compassion and diligence. Aside from his passion for woodwork, Cookie was a man who built his family on a strong foundation of faith. He had a deep love for his daughters, Sarah Guest Brewer and Rebecca Guest, son-in-law, Nathan Brewer, and grandson, Jacob Brewer. To him, family was everything. Cookie is survived by his mother, Anna Beth Brown Guest, and siblings, Jan and Jim Clark, and Jerry and Peggy Guest. Cookie went home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2016. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Lyford at 11 o'clock.
