Egil A. Watsby

Donna- Egil A. Watsby, 93, passed away March 3, 2014 at John Knox Village in Weslaco. He was born August 15, 1920 in Donna, TX to Knute O. and Anna G. Bale Watsby. He graduated from Donna High School in 1939 and soon after enlisted with the United States Air Force where he served for 8 years. Upon his discharge, he attended an electrical technician school in Dallas and after graduation, he went on to work for Western Geophysical Company in Galveston where he manufactured sizemegraph cables. After his retirement in 1986, he moved to John Knox Village in Weslaco and resided there for over 25 years. While at John Knox, he helped with video and audio set ups and transported many patients to their doctor’s appointments in McAllen and Weslaco.
He was a lifelong member of Faith Lutheran Church of Weslaco. He is survived by his brother, Clarence Watsby of Donna; a sister, Bernice Pratt of Austin; 5 nieces; 2 nephews.
A funeral service service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 10:00 am at John Knox Village Chapel in Weslaco, officiated the service will be the Rev. Howard Bloomquist, Chaplain of John Knox Village. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 pm at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, with Mr. Billy Brandt, Elder of Faith Lutheran Church of Weslaco officiating the service.
