WESLACO - DONNA / WESLACO - Eleanor Taormina L. Ennis passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018. She was known to most as "Buddy". Eleanor was born November 11, 1920, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Mary Amedeo and Eugene A. Taormina. She was the youngest child in a family of three girls. The family moved to Donna, Texas, in 1939. She was a graduate of the 1939 class of Donna High School. In 1946 she met Herbert R. Ennis and married him in January of 1947. Together they raised two children Andy Loog Ennis Mannering and Randall Patrick Ennis. Eleanor was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Donna for over 60 years. She also served as Eucharistic Minister at Retama Manor. Eleanor had a love of antiques and enjoyed searching for and decorating with them. She also enjoyed working on family genealogy and researching old family documents. She was a devoted homemaker whose life revolved around her family. She enjoyed spending time with Herbie, her devoted husband of 69 years, her children and daughter-in-law, her grandson, and her nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for being a creative lady. If you were fortunate enough to receive one of her lovely beaded Christmas ornaments you knew you had a treasure created with much love. She is survived by a daughter Andy Loog Ennis Mannering and a son Randall Patrick Ennis and wife Carolyn all of McAllen, a grandson John Anthony Mannering of Houston, a brother-in-law Paul Ennis and wife Lydell, a friend, and loving caregiver Eva Cavazos, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ennis is preceded in death by her parents, husbands First Lt. Andrew Loog (June 13, 1943) and Herbert Richard Ennis (October 27, 2016), sisters Josephine Messina and Rosalie Smythe, and nephews Gaeton A. Messina and Charles Anthony (Cam) Messina. Visitation will be held at McCaleb Funeral Home, 900 W. 4th in Weslaco, from 6:30-8:30 pm on Tuesday, November 13, with a rosary at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on November 14 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Donna, 306 S. Salinas Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
