Mercedes- Eleazar Carrillo Sr. passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 30th, 2020, at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco. Eleazar was born on June 15th, 1962, to Refugio Carrillo and Santos Torres Carrillo. His family migrated to Mercedes when Eleazar was a young child.
Eleazar grew up in Mercedes with his six siblings. He developed a passion for painting, which eventually led to a career, detailing, and restoring cars. Eleazar owned and operated a successful body shop for many years. He spent the last decade working for Tipton Motors in Brownsville.
Eleazar also loved motorcycles. He enjoyed going out to eat with friends and family, and his favorite stop was Texas Roadhouse. Eleazar loved his children and grandchildren and was devoted to their success. He was also a very dedicated member of the Galvan Revival Church in Weslaco, where he volunteered weekends and evenings to care for their lawn.
Eleazar is preceded in death by his father, Refugio Carrillo.
He is survived by his mom, Santos Carillo, his children, Eleazar Carrillo Jr. (April) of Weslaco, Eli Carrillo of Mercedes, Nancy Zuniga (Enrique) of San Antonio, and Eduardo Carrillo of Mercedes, grandchildren, Kaiden and Karson Carrillo, and Kaitlyn and Evelyn Zuniga, siblings, Lupe Carrillo of Weslaco, Elida Garza (Robert+) of Weslaco, Leticia Yanez (Hugo), of Donna, Hortencia Coronado (Juan) of Midland, Martin Carrillo (Mari) of Weslaco, and Israel Carrillo (Yvette) of Beaumont, numerous nephews, and nieces.
Visitation will be Friday, July 3rd, 9 am-9 pm, at McCaleb Funeral Home Chapel. A celebration of life will begin at 7 pm, officiated by Pastor Sandro Treviño of the Galvan Revival Church.
