Donna- Elena G Barron, 87, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Edinburg Nursing Home. On December 30, 1932, Elena was born to Gregorio Guerrero and Martina Lumbreras in Cardenas, San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
She married Ruben Barron, and they had four children. Elena and Ruben migrated to the United States and worked in agriculture. They were a great team and developed a reputation for their meticulous work. Elena and Ruben worked all over the country, including Utah, Colorado, and Iowa. They made a beautiful living and Elena was careful to build nice savings. The couple lived a very modest life, and any extra income they earned was used to help others.
Elena was an excellent cook. She was famous for her tamales, enchiladas, and Chile Rellenos. The grandchildren fondly remember her making their favorite meal each birthday. She also enjoyed crocheting and made lots of blankets that she would give away as gifts. Elena loved working in the yard and definitely had a green thumb. She always had a well-manicured home, inside and out.
Above all else, Elena was a devout Catholic and woman of faith. She gave of her time, talents, and finances, volunteering often. Elena was a gentle soul, loving and caring. Her smile always lit up the room, and being around, Elena was indeed to be loved.
