WESLACO - Elia Olguin Gonzalez Garza was born on March 7, 1923, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She lived the first 12 years of her life in Rio Grande City at La Puerta Ranch. She and her family moved to Weslaco, Texas, in 1936, and she lived in Weslaco until 1996 when she moved to Pharr with her husband. She was the proud owner of Princess Beauty Shop in Weslaco for over 35 years and many of her customers and friends knew her as "Princess." She is preceded in death by the father of her children, Frank Gonzalez, and her second husband Jorge Garza. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Robert (Beatrice) Gonzalez of Dallas, Anna (Al) Smith of Weslaco, Nellie (Bill +)Chaney of Pharr, and Dan (Peggy) Gonzalez of Laguna Vista and by her two stepchildren Iselda (Carlos) Garza of Mission and Romualdo (Yolanda) Garza of Edinburg, 5 grandchildren, Rob Gonzalez (Sylvia) of Forney, TX, , David Gonzalez (Lucy) of Plano, TX, Linda Rodriguez (Henry) of Garland, TX, Nathan Chaney (Layla) of Capell, TX, and Cara Huffine (Matt) of Denton, TX, 3 step-grandchildren, Dominique Garza, Brianna Garza, and Romualdo Garza and 7 great-grandchildren, Celeste, Lilliana, and Marissa Gonzalez, Conrad Chaney, Brayden Huffine, Jonas and Jordan Rodriguez. Also surviving her are 4 sisters, Maria De La Garza of Weslaco, Aida Medrano and Elida Montes of Rotan, and Elva Garza of Weslaco and numerous nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 25th, from 3-9pm, with a rosary at 7 pm at McCaleb Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 26th, 10 am, at St Pius X Catholic Church in Weslaco. Serving as pallbearers will be Rob Gonzalez, David Gonzalez, Nathan Chaney, Henry Rodriguez, Eugene De la Garza, and Rosendo Olguin.
