Elvira Treviño

July 17, 1950 — September 8, 2017

MERCEDES - Elvira Treviño, 67, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Amara Hospice in Edinburg. She was born on July 17, 1950 tp Fermin and Gregoria Romero in Weslaco, TX. She was the baby of four girls. When she was still a child, she would meet her soulmate, Jesus. They met in junior high and married as young adults. Jesus and Elvira worked very hard in order to provide for their three children, Ann, Julian, Kristina. They raised their family in Weslaco most of their lives, but they migrated to Dousman, Wisconsin for most of the kids life. The whole family migrated and worked together to make a living. They stopped migrating in the early 90s and Jesus got a job at the sugar mill so that Elvira could stay at home and care for the house and children. She had worked in the field so long, she developed a love of gardening. When Elvira was not cooking or cleaning, you would find her in the garden. She would work in the garden for hours, planting and caring for her vegetables, singing a happy tune the whole time. Elvira loved to sing. Elvira was a great mom, but even a better grandma. She loved to care for the grandchildren, but never spoiling them. She always made sure that they knew right from wrong and minded their manners. She demanded respect and she definitely earned it. Elvira loved to go to church and praise the Lord. She attended the El Sendero de la Cruz Baptist Church for most of her life. She prayed over her husband and children constantly. Elvira had a great sense of humor. She and Jesus loved to laugh and tell jokes. Many times they had the kids in tears because they were so funny. Elvira is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, San Juanita Cabreda, her brothers in law, Julio Treviño, Jorge Treviño, and Javier Treviño.
