WESLACO - Emma Lopez, 75, passed away on Monday, March 20th, 2017 in Weslaco. Emma was born on December 19th, 1941 to David Acosta and Leonor Cadena Acosta in Mercedes, Texas. She had 3 brothers and a sister. Emma raised four children, Sandra, Noemi, John, and Veronica. Emma would spend most of her career at Knapp Medical Center, where she worked as an environmental specialist for fifteen years. After retirement, Emma spent a lot of time traveling. She went to New Mexico and spent many weekends visiting her kids and grandchidlren in San Antonio. She also loved to visit her brother in Killeen, Texas. Emma was a shopaholic. She loved to shop and she was especially good at finding bargains. She loved to shop at garage sales and find hidden treasures, especially jewelry. Emma loved her novelas and she could watch them all day, as long as she had her coffee. She could drink coffee morning noon at night. Emma took great care of her appearance and would not be seen without makeup or jewelry. She loved to be dressed up and made up and she took a lot of pride in this. Emma is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Noe Acosta. She is survived by her children, Sandra Lopez (Carlos Emilio Solis II) of McAllen, Noemi L. Luna (Alex) of Weslaco, John Lopez (Amy) of San Antonio, and Veronica Sanchez (Carlos) of San Antonio, her grandchildren, Carlos Emilio Solis III, Justin Marie Luna, Alejandro Luna, Jayden Luna, Jasmine Lopez, John Lopez. Carlos Sanchez Jr., Clarissa Sanchez (Joseph), and Cayla Sanchez, great grandchildren, Audriana Renee Lopez and Chloe Rodriguez, her brothers, Rene Acosta of Mercedes and David Acosta of Weslaco, her sister, Patricia Rodriguez of Weslaco, and her significant other, Armando Galvan. Emma will always be remembered as someone who loved people and loved to have fun. She was always in a good mood and would never let anything get her down. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 22nd, at 2pm at San Martin de Porres in Weslaco.
