Weslaco- Ester M. Sifuentes, 92, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco.
Born on May 11, 1930 in Gary, Indiana to Jesús Medina, also known as “Grandpa Chuey,” and Dolores also known as “Lola” Ortega Medina. Ester Medina Sifuentes was one of eight children who quickly made Weslaco, Tx home. Ester Medina Sifuentes, loved spending time gardening and chatting in the afternoons with her eldest son, Roberto, “El Niño.” When she wasn’t outside tending to her many flowers or listening to her porch Angel chime, she was hosting her daily “tea-parties,” as she lovingly called them, with her two sisters, Esperanza and Carmen Medina.
On Saturday mornings, adorned with her floral dress, vest of the day, and favorite floral purse from her daughter, Ester often enjoyed setting up her stand at “La Placita” with her oldest son and sister. Her faithful servitude to her Savior, Jesús Cristo, could be seen in Ester’s devotion to helping at her church, attending early Sunday Mass at St. Joan of Arc. Christ came through in Ester’s beautiful and genuine smile and in the way she loved all. She truly taught her family the meaning of being a faithful servant of Jesús Cristo, and Ester’s love, faith, and kindness can be seen in her three children, who inherited her smile and Love for Christ, Roberto Sifuentes, Amanda Sifuentes Carbajal, and her late son, Rudy Sifuentes.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Simply, Ester Sifuentes was puro amor as she welcomed all with a warm smile, embrace, and was a blessing to those who knew her.
Ester will be greatly missed by her friends, church family, siblings, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, but cherish the memories made and rest in knowing that she is back home in His Kingdom and reunited with her youngest son, Rudy and her Mama "Concha.” She will always be in our hearts, in our minds, and she lives on forever.
