Eulalio Uresti

May 19, 1945 — December 6, 2018

Weslaco-Eulalio C. Uresti of Kiowa, Oklahoma, lost his battle with cancer, on Thursday, December 6th, 2018, surrounded by his family. Lalo was born on May 19th, 1945 to Reyes Uresti and Gertrudis Chavez in Monte Alto, Texas. He was the youngest of fifteen children. Lalo grew up in Monte Alto and graduated from Edcouch Elsa High School. From an early age, Lalo had a single drive and worked very hard. He played football and ran track, and many of his high school classmates may remember him by his nickname, "Hercules." Lalo also was naturally drawn to farming and raising animals. He was very active in his FFA club throughout his school years and adulthood. He did all of this while holding down a part-time job. After high school, Lalo continued his education at Pan American and Texas Tech University. He married his first wife, Elizabeth Lozano, in 1967 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Mercedes and soon after, they were blessed with their first daughter D'Ann. He worked at Elsa State Bank for a few years and later, moved to Houston where Lalo gained more experience working as a loan officer for Post Oak Bank, and they were blessed with a second daughter, Claudine. Soon after her birth, the family returned to the valley and Lalo continued his banking career, serving as the Vice President of First National Bank. They also had a new son, Jacob. Lalo was an entrepreneur and very hard worker, he left the banking industry and opened Weslaco Feed Store, which was the first feed store in Weslaco, and would later be sold to what we all know now as Moreno's Feed and Pet Store. Lalo went on to his next venture, opening up Mid Valley Produce in Donna. He always loved farming and raising animals, so he was able to do this full time for the next decade. In between raising his children, animals and working fulltime, Lalo also worked as a route driver for Borden's, Mrs. Baird's Bread, and Schepp's Milk. Unfortunately, his marriage ended in divorce. Fortunately, his second marriage to Ronda would bless him with another son, Wyatt. Lalo moved to Marion, Ohio, where he worked as a maintenance supervisor for Whirlpool until his well-deserved retirement in 2010. After his second divorce and retirement, he purchased a ranch in Kiowa, Oklahoma where he was able to raise animals and farm. He fell ill in 2016, and his daughters soon brought him home to care for him. He was later diagnosed with cancer and able to spend his last time on Earth with his children. Lalo will always be remembered by his strong work ethic, strong will, and his "tough love" parenting style. He was very involved in his children's activities and enjoyed helping other children in the community to develop the skills needed to raise animals and farm. Lalo was very involved in the Donna FFA, Kiowa FFA, River Valley FFA, and 4H Clubs. He started Uresti Club Lambs while living in Ohio. On a rare occasion, when Lalo was not working, he enjoyed watching western movies. Lalo is preceded in death by his parents, Reyes and Gertudis Uresti, sisters, Terri Cicel, Rosie Loya, Florencia Guerra, and Elvira Ortiz, brothers, Erasmo, Ernesto, Enrique, Lupe, Eradio, and Adan Uresti, Longino "Lonnie," Reyes Jr., and Rogelio Uresti. He is survived by his daughters, D'Ann Uresti of Weslaco, Claudine and husband, Ben Garza, of Weslaco, TX, sons, Charles Jacob Uresti of Beasly, TX, and Wyatt Uresti and wife, Kerri, of Marion, Ohio, grandchildren, Thomas L. Amador, Aaron D. Amador, Lauren Garza, Ben Garza II, Miranda Garza, and Kevin Luke Uresti, sister, Alicia Uresti Garza (Remedios+) of San Antonio, TX, mother of his children and close friend, Elizabeth Uresti of Weslaco, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 7th, from 5-9pm, with a rosary at 7om at McCaleb Funeral Home Chapel. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, December 8th, 10 am, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Weslaco.
