Weslaco- Faith Ciomperlik, 85, passed away on Friday, February 5th. She was born on October 14th, 1930 in New York City to Stanley Bruno and Lillian Gopferich.
She married William, June 8th, 1948, and he was the love of her life. They settled in Laredo for a short period. William would move to the valley in 1955 to prepare the home as she fondly remembered so it would be ready for Faith. They were married nearly 50 years and she was a faithful and loving wife until his passing on September 18th, 1996, and her own words, he would go and prepare a place for them once again. After 20 years, she is reunited with the love of her life.
As faithful servants of God, they were fruitful and multiplied, having five children.Gloria Spacek , followed by Bill Ciomperlik, Matthew Ciomperlik, and Dawn Miller, Stan Ciomperlik.
Faith was a great mother, staying home to raise her children for most of their lives. She had a passion for helping others, so when the kids were old enough, she went to school to become a nurse. She was a graduate of the first LVN class at Knapp Memorial Methodist Hospital in 1967. She would go on to work at Knapp for many years.
She helped deliver hundreds of babies
She was then the first nurse hired by Drs. Krishnan. She worked for both Drs. Elizabeth and Gopal Krishnan for manyyears . She was a hard worker, but being the kind hearted woman she was, Faith decided to retire when her father became ill. She would care for him until his passing.
Shortly after, she was back at work. Faith worked as medical assistant instructor for CBM education center in San Benito and later Retama Manor.
She is fondly remembered by her friends and family for the many kindnesses she showed to everyone. She never met a stranger in this life, she always found it easy to find common ground with everyone. Her loving spirit was abundant and readily found in everyday life. Faith lifted everyone's spirits and found the good in everyone, no matter how dire or trying the circumstances. She sacrificed many things in life to give her children the best she could.
Faith had a love of life, and enjoyed that by traveling the world. She visited many continents, always finding time to make new friends and acquaintances in far off lands. She was always keenly interested in what people had to say, what was going on in their lives, and what made them happy, calling the children daily asking them “What’s new, good or interesting?". She kept a map of all of her travels and her passport is fully stamped. Faith was a smart traveler, when she had outlived all of her traveling friends, she found other groups to join, having a roommate would allow her to travel twice as much.
Faith was also a loving grandmother, the grandkids called her “Ome”.
Faith is survived by her 5 children, Gloria Spacek and her husband Earnest , William M. Ciomperlik, Matthew Ciomperlik and his wife Valerie , Dawn Miller, and Stanley Ciomperlik and his wife Janice, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren, brother Stan Bruno and his wife Hildegard and sister Rosemarie Guajardo and her husband Pete.
She was loved by all and will be greatly missed but always remembered.
