Donna- Felipa Martinez, 70, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2020, at McAllen Medical Center. On May 25, 1950, she was born to Nieves Martinez and Guadalupe Camacho in Weslaco, Texas.
Felipa grew up in Mercedes. She married Nicolas Ayala.
She loved working in her front yard. Felipa was an excellent cook and a super mom. Felipa became a widow early and had to do things on her own. She raised seven of her own children, helped raise her sister's children after an untimely death, and three grandchildren. Felipa thrived on having her family close to her. Felipa was up early, enjoying her coffee and getting ready for the day; she loved taking all kids to school. The family had cookouts often, and Felipa never missed one. It must have been stressful raising all of those children, cooking, and cleaning, but Felipa has a servant's attitude and always smiles on her face. She exemplified her motto, With God, all things are possible. Felipa believed this and taught her children the same.
When she had some downtime, Felipa did love to watch her novelas. Her favorite color was black. Felipa will be remembered as a hard-working, strong, loving, and caring woman of faith. She was the true definition of a super mom, and her children, grandchildren, nephews, and nieces will forever be grateful for all that she did.
Felipa is preceded in death by her parents, Nieves and Guadalupe Martinez, husband, Nicolas Ayala, sister, Pita Ybarra, and brother, Juan Gonzalez.
Her children survive her, Gilberto Martinez, Oscar Martinez (Maggie), Jose Jesus Martinez, Nick Ray Martinez, Elizabeth Martinez, Jason Martinez, Ricky Martinez (Elizabeth), nephews that she raised, Bobby Ybarra, Richard Martinez, niece, Becky Ybarra, Norma Ybarra, and Angelo Ybarra, grandchildren she raised, Jesus Lagunes Martinez Jr., Marcos Lagunes, Elizabeth Lagunes.
