Fernando Isauro Medina Perez

Weslaco- Fernando Isauro Medina Perez, born on May 30, 1952, in Mexico, passed away peacefully at his daughter's home in Weslaco on December 31, 2024. He lived a life dedicated to pursuing knowledge and fostering his students' minds and spirits, reflecting a deep passion for education that guided him throughout his teaching career. Fernando earned a degree in Industrial Engineering specializing in mathematics, a subject he not only taught but also cherished because of the opportunities it provided to connect with his students. He took immense joy in witnessing their successes and reunions, highlighting his lasting impact on their lives.

Fernando was known as a great husband and father whose heart was filled with love for his family. His nurturing spirit extended beyond the classroom, where he shared his love for reading, painting, and chess. He embraced his faith deeply, diligently serving his church and teaching discipleship classes, illustrating his commitment to God and community. Music was another cherished element of his life; he enjoyed listening to worship music, playing guitar, and passing this passion to his grandchildren by teaching them to play.

Those who knew Fernando will fondly remember his warm laughter, the long walks he enjoyed, and how he inspired others to achieve their potential. His legacy will continue through the lives he touched, both within his family and among his students.

Fernando is preceded in death by his parents, Isauro Medina Vela and Felicitas Perez, and his brother, Juan Medina Perez. 

His loving wife, Velia Yolanda Reyna Palacios, survives him; their sons, Fernando Medina Reyna and his wife JeriKris Medina and David Medina and his wife, Rebeca Soto Gonzalez); their daughter, Luz Medina and her husband, Onesimo Niño; his siblings, Micaela, Elisa, Amarila, Eduardo, David, and Arturo; grandchildren, Jezrleella, Pearlana, and Fernadito Medina, Kenny and Hannah Niño, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Visitation services for Fernando will be held on January 2, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM at McCaleb Funeral Home, located at 900 W 4th St, Weslaco, TX 78596. A Funeral Service will follow on January 3, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM, also at McCaleb Funeral Home, with a subsequent burial at Sacred Park Cemetery, 12506 N Mile 2 West Road, Mercedes, TX 78570, at 11:00 AM.

Fernando Isauro Medina Perez will be deeply missed, yet his spirit and teachings will endure in the hearts of all he impacted throughout his life.
