WESLACO - Weslaco- Francisca Torres, 85, passed away on Friday, June 16th, 2017 at Mid Valley Nursing in Mercedes. Francisca was born in Linares, Mexico on September 17th, 1931, to Ysabel and Natividad Limas. She was one of seven children. They migrated to Weslaco when she was a child, where Francisca attended school. Francis, also known as Panchita, married at a young age. She had one son, Angelito Torres Jr. and was married to his father; Angelito Torres Sr. Later in life, she met her lifetime companion, Eusebio Hernandez. They spent much of their life together in Dallas. Francisca worked in Dallas at St. Paul Methodist Hospital. In her spare time, she loved going to the flea market (Traders Village), spending time with family, and listening to good stories over a great cup of coffee. She enjoyed making tamales, enchiladas, menudo, and homemade tortillas to name a few. They would make their way back to Weslaco in 2002. After retirement, she and Eusebio were able to enjoy a lot of traveling, and spent a much of their vacation time in Acapulco and Rosita, Coahuila. When they were not traveling, she was always cooking. She was a great cook and took pleasure in cooking for her family. In her later years, she enjoyed her time in front of the television watching a good comedy or her favorite "Novela". Francisca is preceded in death by her companion of over thirty years, Eusebio Hernandez, and her siblings Ignacio Limas, Jesus Limas, Ana Maria Limas, Dolores L. Garcia, and Juan Antonio Limas. She is survived by her only son, Angelito Torres Jr. of Weslaco, her four grandsons, Alex Torres (Tammie), Adrian Torres, Adam Torres (Jennifer), and Abram Torres, her great-grandchildren, Celine, Alex Jr., Adina, Brandon, Adrienne, Azaliah, Adalyn, Averie, and Tessa Belle Torres. She is also survived by her sister Socorro Medrano (Severo) of Weslaco, and numerous nephews and nieces. Pallbearers for service- Alex Torres, Adrian Torres, Adam Torres, Abram Torres, Jesus J. Limas, and Raymundo Gonzalez IV. Visitation will be held on Monday, 1-6pm. A Chapel service will be held on Tuesday, at 10 am at McCaleb Funeral Home with burial to follow at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes.
