Francisco "Franky" Garcia

October 5, 1957 — January 9, 2016

WESLACO - Francisco “Franky” Garcia 58, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 9th, 2016.

Francisco “Franky” Garcia son, brother and uncle too many nephews and nieces was taken from us suddenly. Franky the sixth brother of a family of twelve to Cirildo and Aurora Garcia. Franky growing up in life grew up with a passion of big trucks. As a family we traveled around the United States working in the fields in Michigan, Minnesota and Florida to name just a few. That love for big trucks led him to lead a career most of his life driving semi-trailers for different companies and F&F Farms out of Michigan. He was so proud of his big trucks by caring for them dearly. He took his jobs seriously. But the most we remember Franky, as a family, was his love for the Panthers and Wildcats. Franky never played any sports but he had many nephews and nieces who either played on the football team or in the band for either team. Every year here was someone in the family playing at Bobby Lackey Stadium for the band or football team. Franky was known to always be at the stadium by 5:45 knowing that the games did not start till 7:30. He was poked at by the family because of this. To him there was no difference in teams he would say “We are Weslaco” “I go for both of them”. He loved the Garcia kids dearly. We think he didn’t want them to make the same mistakes he did growing up. Franky will be dearly missed by the entire family but his memory lives in all of us. His future nephews and nieces that will play at Bobby Lackey Stadium will continue to feel his spirit.

He is preceded in death by his mom, Aurora Garcia. He is survived by his father, Cirildo Garcia, his brothers, Jose Luis (Melva), Ramiro (Gloria), David (Delilah), Bacilio (Ernestina), Cirildo Jr. (Praxedess), and Guillermo (Vicenta) Garcia, his sisters, Irma (Pedro) Garcia, Maria Luisa (Rene) Garcia, Tomasita (Robert) Gonzalez, Rosalinda (Ezequiel) Olivarez, and Julia (Guadalupe) Hinojosa. He also had 30 nieces and nephews and 20 great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 11am to 9pm with a 7pm prayer service at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco. Funeral will be on Thursday, January 14, 2016, 11am at Las Palmas Baptist Church in Weslaco.
