Francisco Reyes Morales

Francisco Reyes Morales , 70, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2016 at Doctors
Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas. A public viewing service will be held for
him from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at McCaleb Funeral Home in
Weslaco, TX. A church service will also be held Monday, May 30, 2016 at 10 a.m. at
Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mercedes, TX with a following burial service at
Sacred Park Cemetery. Francisco was born at La Retama Ranch in Matamoros,
Tamaulipas to Hipolito Reyes and Victoria Morales. His brothers and sisters were Benjamin, Antonio, Hipolito Jr., Victoriana, Santos, Maria del Carmen, San Juana, and
Maria. He grew up helping his mom raise cattle and milk the cows. He would then
personally deliver the milk and cheese to customers. During his first marriage he
had three children, Antonio, Ramon, and Marissa.
He then married Modesta Rodriguez in which he had Guadalupe, Francisco Jr., Esmeralda, Nelson, Armando, Jaime, and Pedro Reyes.
In the early seventies he migrated to the United States where he harvested and worked the land. Francisco then joined the carpentry industry where he framed and remodeled houses. He often would take his children up north where he showed them how to be hard workers. Francisco also taught his kids how to be humble, noble, and responsible.
People that knew him would describe him as a very charismatic and friendly person. He enjoyed talking about his youth and striking up a conversation with just about anyone. He had a caring heart and always helped anyone in need. Some of Francisco’s favorite things to do included watching movies starring Pedro Infante, eating pan dulce, and planting fruit trees.
Francisco is survived by his wife, Modesta Reyes Rodriguez, brother, Hipolito Reyes Jr., sisters Victoriana Pena Reyes, Santos Cantu Reyes, Maria del Carmen Mercado Reyes, San Juana Saldana Reyes, Maria Meza Reyes, children Guadalupe Reyes, Francisco Reyes Jr., Esmeralda Aguirre Reyes, Nelson Reyes, Armando Reyes, Pedro Reyes, Ramon Reyes, Marissa Reyes, Antonio Reyes, 27 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
