WESLACO - Franklin D. Garrett Sr, a resident of Trails End Park in Weslaco, Texas, a former Iowa resident and native of Beattyville, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly, and peacefully, on March 13, 2023, at the age of 80. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Frank was born on November 2, 1942, in Beattyville, Kentucky. After completing the 9th Grade of High School, Frank chose to start working to help his family.
From 1960-1963, Frank was a marksman in the US Army. After an honorable discharge, Frank went on to be employed by John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works as a Test Machine Operator for 31 years when he was fortu-nate to retire.
Soon after retirement, he and Cheryl moved to Trails End Park to retire. There, Frank met a community of close friends. While at Trails End, Frank found his passion for shuffling. He also was able to continue with his love of landscaping, wood working, card playing and just an all around mas-ter of all trades.
Frank, “The Mayor” as he was often called, enjoyed helping his fel-low neighbors in the Park with anything they may need.
Frank loved his family and friends with a deep passion. He was a very respectful man and lived by a code. Although Frank was strong willed he had a heart of gold. He will always be in our hearts and will be forever missed by those who knew and loved him.
Frank’s ashes will be scattered at a later date. McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco is in charge of arrangements.
