WESLACO, TX - Frederick (Fred) Norris Becker of Black River Falls, WI, 78, surrounded by family and friends, passed away on Saturday March 21, 2015 in Weslaco, TX. Fred was born at home on August 27,1936 in the Township of Curen, Hixton, WI to his parents Harold and Esther (Nelson) Becker and siblings; Myrna (Wayne) Webster; Sheryl Becker; Vera (Duane) Nerby; Dale (Chris) Becker. He grew up on a farm in Ellingson Coulee.
Fred first marriage was to Leora Dunn (divorced) and married love of his life Ann Parlow Dahlke on May 21, 1983. He attended Brown Institute, Minneapolis MN (Industrial Electronics). He had a long career with Culligan Water Conditioning; owning store in Winona, MN for 15 years and managing other Culligan businesses in Corpus Christi, TX; Anderson, IN; Prescott Valley AZ, and Laredo, TX and Jacksonville FL. Previous career as Systems Manager with Control Data Corporation in Minneapolis, MN. Most recently worked for Abby-Vans Inc., Neillsville, WI; Cenex Farmer’s CO-OP Oil Con, Inc. in Hixton, WI and Gross Motors Black River Falls, WI. Fred worked as a Realtor in Austin, TX and Hatfield, WI. He was a past President St Charles MN Chamber of Commerce; Past Director Minnesota Water Quality Association; Past Master and current member of Mason Rising Sun Lodge No. 49 St. Charles MN.
Fred enjoyed life and having a good time with family and friends. He liked to dance and enjoyed listening to country western music. He was an avid traveler visiting every state but Alaska. Spending the last twelve years wintering in his beloved Texas. He also enjoyed Pheasant and deer hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities centered around RV camping.
He is survived by his loving wife Ann Parlow Becker, Son Jack (Lester Katz) Becker of Omaha, NE and Grandchildren; Chelsea, Phillip, Samantha and Jacob Becker. Also his stepchildren Greg (Debbie) Dahlke; Cathy (Chris) Gagnon; Susan (Paul) Dahlke; and step grandchildren Thomas and Michael (Sarah) Gagnon. He is survived by siblings: Sheryl Becker; Vera (Duane) Nerby; Dale (Chris) Becker and many nieces and nephews.
Fred is predeceased in death by his son Scott Becker, his parents; and his sister Myrna Webster and his faithful family dog of 14 1/2 years, Molly.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2015, visitation will be 10am until time of 11am service at the Lutheran Church in Northfield WI.
