Gamaliel De la Fuente

Weslaco- Gamaliel De la Fuente, 88, passed away on February 9th, 2021 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco. Gamaliel was born on February 2, 1933, to Jesus De la Fuente and Gregoria Escobedo De la Fuente in Mexico.

Gamaliel De la Fuente was lovingly known by all who knew him as “Gamitas” was well respected for his generosity, humility. He loved to sing and dance, enjoyed horses especially his mare “Estrella”. He was generous in sharing his knowledge of agriculture and survival skills. As for the family, he respectfully embraced in his walk in life he will be remembered as a great teacher but most of all as a great friend.

Gamaliel is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus, and Gregoria De la Fuente. He is survived by his brother, Ricardo De la Fuente, sister, Maria De la Fuente de Cortez, numerous nieces, nephews, and the Eguia Serratos family he embraced.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 13th, 2021, from 10am-3pm, at Sacred Park Cemetery Chapel in Mercedes. Burial will follow at Sacred Park Cemetery.
