Gary Doyle Mutz, 75, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016 in San Fernando, Mexico. Gary was born on September 18th, 1940 in Raymondville, Texas to Leonard and Lucille Mutz. Gary grew up in and attended Raymondville schools. He worked on the farm from a very young age shadowing his dad, Leonard, whom he learned the art of farming from. Gary loved to fish and hunt and his only greater love, was for his mother, Lucille. The Arroyo Colorado was his favorite place and he spent as much time there as he possible. He grew up with two brothers and three sisters and was always trying to pick fights with his sisters, or, maybe we were wrong; it may have been his little brother, Eugene, who was the instigator. When he would visit the Rio Grande Valley, the family was always concerned about his safety and traveling into Mexico. Gary would make certain to phone everyone (especially his nephew, John), to let us know he arrived safely. He worked as a foreman on a number of farms here in the Rio Grande Valley. He then moved to Mexico to become a foreman over a large farm. He spent the last twenty six years working in Mexico, where he met his current wife, Rita and they had two children. Gary had three children with his first wife. Gary enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest extent. He enjoyed the morning sunrise, smoking a cigarette and drinking coffee. Gary died on August 11, 2016 and is now enjoying that cup of coffee and cigarette with his mother. Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Lucille, and is survived by his wife Rita, his daughters, Janie Lopez (Angel), Tammy Loya (Leo), his sons, Gary Mutz Jr., Mike Mutz, and Larry Mutz (Lynn), his siblings, Barbara Chappell, Harvey Mutz (Minnie), Norma Kelly, and Sandra Ivey (J.L.), his Aunt Dolly White (Curtis), seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Dr. Rolando Aguirre will be officiating.
