Weslaco- Gerald was born on December 1, 1952 to Cecil and Lorene Raleigh in Weslaco, Texas and entered the gates of Heaven on January 22, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Gerald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Gerald spent his last days with his soul mate and best friend, Margaret and his sons by his side. After graduating from Weslaco High School in 1972, he was drafted to the United States Army. Upon his return from service, Gerald worked for Neuhaus and Company for over 40 years, working his way through the Parts Department ranks and he ended his career as Regional Parts Manager. Gerald was best known for his laid-back life philosophy. His kids often referred to him as “Ah Mañana” because he enjoyed life so much that he would rather just do it tomorrow. He was also an amazing handy man; he could fix anything or make anything work. Gerald loved fishing and spending time with family and close friends in Port Mansfield as well as hunting deer and hanging out at the lease in Hebbronville. He also loved to travel and he and Margaret took many vacations together and visited the kids and friends in San Antonio. Gerald is preceded in death by his father Cecil. He is survived by his mother Lorene and his loving wife of 21 years, Margaret; his kids Justin (Cindy), Kevin (Becky), along with his beloved grandchildren Hannah, Cody, Christian, Angel, and Caitlyn as well as, his brothers Michael (Delia) and David (Martha) and brothers-in-law Dennis, Kevin (Imelda), and sisters-in-law, Mo and Kat (Kenneth) along with numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. Few men are as proud as Gerald was, few men are as loving, understanding, caring, and kind as he was, few men as brave. He will be missed by all of those whom he loved.
