Glenna Parks

June 6, 1933 — March 21, 2018

WESLACO, TX / ELLINGTON, MO - Glenna Parks, 84, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Glenna was born on June 6th, 1933 to Cleo E Gastineau and Glenna Estell Bales in Ellington, Missouri. She grew up in Ellington with her sister Wanda and learned to work hard at a young age, as she was expected to help with the family farm. During high school, she was attending a basketball game with a competing school where she would catch the eye of a basketball player from the other team, Truman Parks. The rest is history. After graduation, Glenna attended Springfield College and Truman went off to serve our country in Korea. He returned in June of 1954 and they got married shortly after. Truman and Glenna moved to St. Louis where they raised their son, James. Glenna enjoyed a career at the Federal Probation office for over 20 years, while Truman worked at General Motors. After they retired they traveled all over the United States in their RV. They loved to travel and spent about as much time in their RV as they did at home. They began spending winters in the valley in 1998 and made a lot of good friends in Weslaco at Countryside RV Park. Glenna enjoyed working on the farm, reading, playing cards and traveling, but her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren who she adored. Glenna is preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Glenna Gastineau. She is survived by her loving husband, Truman, of 64 years, her son, Jame Dale Parks ("Sissie") of Ellington, MO, grandchildren, Sarah Ann Parks and Tasha Lynn Parks, and her sister, Wanda Lee Strever. Funeral arrangements are under the care with McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.
