HARLINGEN – Grace Flores, 63, entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 16, 2015, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. Mrs. Flores was born and raised in Weslaco, Texas on December 22, 1951 to Andres and Alicia Duarte-Flores. After marrying, she and her husband moved to Harlingen, Texas where they raised their one son and lived for 23 years. She was a loving and caring wife and mother who will be missed dearly.
Mrs. Flores graduated from Weslaco High School in 1971 and Pan American University in 1974 with her degree in nursing. She pursued a lifelong career with the Texas Department of State Health Services specializing in immunizations and infectious diseases, including tuberculosis and Hansen’s disease.
Mrs. Flores is survived by her loving husband, George Garza; one son, George Andrew Garza; seven sisters, Linda (Gary) George, Lydia (Daniel) Morton, Irene (Eddie) Molina, Hilda (Mark) Reed, Eleanor Flores, Estella (Robert) Rhode, and Carmen (Jeff) Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mrs. Flores was one of the most genuine and caring people anyone could ever meet. Some of her best traits included her immense love, care, and hospitality for others. She loved her pets and developed an emotional attachment to every single one of them. She kept a special place in her heart for her loved ones and devoted herself and her love to all family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andres Flores and Alicia D. Flores.
