Guadalupe "Lupe" Esquibel

MERCEDES- Mercedes- Guadalupe “Lupe” Esquibel, 53, lost his battle with Covid-19 on Thursday, November 26, 2020. Lupe was born on February 13, 1967, to German Esquivel and Francisca Vela in Miami, Florida. Lupe grew up in Mercedes and migrated up north every summer to work with his parents and ten siblings.

Lupe was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed a good barbecue, but most days, he caught his dinner. Lupe loved to fish. He also enjoyed playing poker, bingo, Loteria, and a little football.

Lupe is preceded in death by his parents, German and Francisca Esquivel, and his daughter, Francisca Gloria Esquibel, and sisters, Francisca Perez and Martina Lozoya

He is survived by his wife, Yolanda Zuniga, children, Jason, Emelia, Luis, Delia, and Juan Esquibel, siblings, Maria Esquivel of Weslaco, German Esquivel Jr. (Alicia) of Elsa, Reynaldo Esquivel (Maria) of Weslaco, Esmeralda Serrato (Roberto) of Dalton, Georgia, Felicitas Esquivel (Angelica Aguilar) of Weslaco, Carmen Lopez of Weslaco, and Oralia Martinez (Juan Gerardo) of Weslaco, and grandchildren, Allison Solis, Kaitelynne Ramirez, Andrew Ramirez, Ethan Ramirez, and Zachary Reyes.


Visitation will be Monday, November 30th, 10 am-9 pm, with a rosary at 7 pm. Graveside service will be Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at 11 am, at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes.
